Therapy Services
What to expect when beginning therapy: At the first visit, you will likely go through what is bringing you into counseling with your therapist. Your clinician will ask questions to get to know you in order to best tailor treatment to your specific needs. Feel free to ask questions about the process if you have any. Therapy is driven forward through the relationship between client and therapist and it is important to your therapist that you feel safe to discuss any questions you may have.
Types of therapy offered
Individual therapy - helps address underlying issues while improving coping skills.
Adults: We see adults for treatment of general mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, adjustments and transitions, trauma, substance abuse, ADHD, family concerns, grief and loss, and sports psychology.
Children: can help children feel less alone and empowered to help themselves succeed. You can be the doorway for that help! It can bring families together and improve communication. Child clients can learn how to handle anger, feelings, and anxiety, and parents can receive psychoeducation about educations systems, behavior and management techniques. Case management services may also assist a child and their families in receiving community and school support, as well as help parents navigate the intricacies of special education.
Family therapy - helps to reestablish and improve communication within an existing family unit.
This may be an adjunct to individual treatment; when a family is involved in the treatment which usually leads to more successful outcomes and shorter treatment.
Couples therapy - a form of counseling where the couple is the client.
Relationships, although may start very naturally, they take extensive work to maintain. Couples therapy is a combination of psychoeducation and therapy. Emphases in couples counseling include fostering connection, improving communication, and creating shared meaning with one another.
